Sunday our friends were telling us how beautiful some of the trails are "right in our backyard" here in Utah.
It's funny. We love the view of the mountains from our home (LOL!), but we definitely don't consider our family a camping and hiking family (Like, we have 3 sleeping bags--and 2 have Disney characters on them--that's the kind of gear we own).
So, when those same friends invited us to go on a local hike, Dave was all over it! (Yes, I'm a slacker and had to work for the online class I teach. But that's another blog entry: "How I put work before family and the guilt that comes with it." Stay-tuned.)
Anyway, Dave's superdad for taking the kids on this awesome hike. I know if he told me he had to work, I'd think twice about taking the kids on a hike . . . sans husband. But, not Dave. He was all about the kids and the hike. (Which is reason #4,567 why I love him.)
I'm so glad they went. They had an INCREDIBLE time. The mountains were beautiful and being with friends made it that much more beautiful.
Thanks Jeff, Janae, Rebecca, Josh and kids for taking our gang on this mini-STAY-cation. You're right: you don't have to go around the world to see something beautiful.
Does this mean I can't push for a Hawaii trip ever?

Jeff and Janae's babay--giving the name "Blue Eyes" a run for its money.
Our girls with their boys: take 1.
Our girls with their boys: take 2.
They said this trail only opened a "bit" ago--still snow in places
(Translation: body of water WILL be freezing).
God's landscape architect rocks. (Yes, I wrote that myself. Call me, SNL.)
A River Runs Through It.
(I really feel like I should pay royalties to the Cliche' Company.)
There's the chilly agua.
Snow princesses (no, not Josh, the girls).
You know what frames are coming next, right?
Looks warm.
The water calls to you.
Woo hoo Kaya!
Woo hoo Paige!
Woo hoo Camry (blasted digital camera has a 2ooo second delay).
Woo hoo Jonah.
Jonah on World's Largest Stilts. JK.
About ready to head home.
** Note: Dave was the first one to jump in, but we didn't get a snapshot of it. What kinda dad doesn't heed the "no swimming signs"? Ours!
(It's worth it for the memory though. Sorry, Park Ranger.)
PS: Juany, the blog looks great. Hope we're going to see you guys soon. Miss you so much. Raging Waters without us? LOL!
