Things I Want to Do Before I Go


  
I've been inspired (by Mighty Girl, Maggie Mason) to create my own Life List--a list of 100+ things I'd like to do before I go (exit Planet E, that is).

PS: In no particular order. PSS: No, this isn't my baby. BUT, he does make me look younger, don't you think?

  1. Step foot in all 50 states. (Even though comedian Kathleen Madigan says there are some you should skip.)
  2. Step foot on all 7 continents.
  3. Take each of our kids to a concert of their choosing (one-on-one).
  4. Start a blog.
  5. Celebrate Christmas in NYC.
  6. Ride in a gondola in Italy with Dave.
  7. Learn to speak Spanish fluently.
  8. Put someone through college.
  9. Serve a mission.
  10. Meet Michelle Obama.
  11. Attend a TED Conference with Dave.
  12. Learn to make bread.
  13. Own lots and lots of costume jewelry (and wear it).
  14. See the Great Wall of China.
  15. Ride in a hot air balloon.
  16. Run a marathon.
  17. Leave a 100$ tip for a waiter/waitress.
  18. Snorkle in Hawaii.
  19. Live on a farm for a summer.
  20. Raise a goat.
  21. Create a workplace with people I love.
  22. Plant a huge garden.
  23. Sew a quilt.
  24. Create a library in our home with a bookcase and sliding ladder.
  25.  Write two books: "It Bothers Me That You Bother Me," and "Everything's Going to Be Okay, Even If It's Not Okay. Okay?"
  26. Sing the National Anthem in public.
  27. Learn to play a song on the ukulele.
  28. Learn to play the guitar.
  29. Audition for Survivor.
  30. Cook my way through Julia Child's "French Cooking" cookbook.
  31. Run across the Golden Gate Bridge.
  32. Be a mom.
  33. Learn to whistle really loud.
  34. Learn to juggle.
  35. Take the kids to the circus (and never once say, "Clowns scare me.")
  36. Meet Oprah Winfrey.
  37. Meet Hillary Clinton.
  38. Live in a home with a pool.
  39. Go a whole year without soda/pop.
  40. Go on a safari.
  41. Be the lead in a musical.
  42. Sing the National Anthem at a public event.
  43. Own an iPad, iPhone, and iPod.
  44. Drive a convertible.
  45. Learn to snow ski.
  46. Have a Christmas Light Display on our home that has cars lining up for miles.
  47. See the Great Pyramids (with the family).
  48. Host "outdoor movies" on a big screen in our neighborhood.
  49. Be a sponsor/donor for a worthwhile cause.
  50. Run a marathon.
  51. Raise chickens.
  52. Raise peaceful, joyful, humorous, and generous kiddos.
  53. See Mt. Rushmore.
  54. See the Grand Canyon.
  55. Stay in a condo on the beach for a month.
  56. Deep fry a turkey for Thanksgiving.
  57. Bench press 150lbs.
  58. See a play on Broadway.
  59. Learn to play chess. With my kids.
  60. Take my mom and dad to the Kentucky Derby.
  61. Turn the backyard into Mormon Cancun.
  62. Learn the words to Bye Bye Miss American Pie.
  63. See Alison Krauss in concert w/ Dave.
  64. Paint a room with polka dots.
  65. Go to India. (Hello Naan!)
  66. Own a VW Bus.
  67. Take my daughters on a road trip (convertible) to Forks, WA.
  68. Meet David Letterman.
  69. Meet Tina Fey.
  70. Host a vacation for friends.
  71. Have a family portrait taken.
  72. Teach each of our kids to be "world class" at an activity/sport.
  73. Have a party with a DJ in our backyard.
