Yesterday was Pioneer Day here in Utah. It's a statewide holiday--and unless you work for a company with clients outside of Utah, you get the day off of work! There are parades and fireworks, the whole shebang. Think, 4th of July: Take 2.
Dave had to work yesterday, but we did manage to do a little holiday-ing. Our neighbors had a morning breakfast, the waterslide went up for a few hours, and we watched fireworks at night (okay, A LOT of holiday-ing!).
Despite being a holiday, it didn't feel like much of a holiday with Dave at work. In fact, I think Kaya and I got downright bored at one point in the day. But that's okay. We had an epiphany during our boredom: there's simply nothing more fun than listening to your music as loud as it will go. Music really does change the mood in the room. (And, we decided there are plenty of times when we wish we were bored instead of busy. We just decided to flow with it. ) PS: I've decided my next "community purchase" is going to have to be a DJ!
Monday begins a new school year for most of the kids in our neighborhood (year-round). We don't begin until mid-August, so we can eek out a few more swim and sun days.
