End of Winter My Bahookie!

Random May Pole

"End" of Winter in Utah.

So last night as I was unpacking the Meehan May Pole, preparing for today's "End of Winter" celebrations, I thought to myself, that was one long winter.

Then at about 2am I got up to let the dog out. (I'd tell you which one, but there are about 200 pets living in our home and at this point I'm not sure that names matter much). And, as soon as the door opened, a FLOOD of cold air rushed in. So much so that the dog wouldn't go outside.

At the time I just thought it was chilly night air and went back to bed.

But when I woke up this morning I realized, "oh, it's not chilly, silly, THAT'S SNOW on EVERYONE'S ROOFTOPS!

Dave, I mean Al Gore (LOL!), keeps telling me, "This is climate change, Dawn. Some places get colder while others get warmer." Oh, okay, Dave. Then would it be too much to ask if we could have relocated to one of those "get warmer" places? Sheesh!

Just kidding. The sky is baby blue today. The sun is shining. The lawn is still turning green. It's all good.

And, as I read in my Tolle book the other day, "it's not so much that the weather is dreadful, but that your perception of the weather is dreadful."

Alright. I get it.

History Lesson for the Day

May Day History (copied without permission from Wikipedia):

"May Day marks the end of the uncomfortable winter half of the year in the Northern hemisphere, and it has traditionally been an occasion for popular and often raucous celebrations, regardless of the locally prevalent political or religious establishment."
