The COUNTDOWN is on--it's almost Cam's bday! Just 3 more days!
Here's a photo of Camry taken on her bday last year. I thought it would be fun to see how much more grown up she looks in just 12 months time. (I'll post a "before and after" once she turns 11.)
Camry is quite possibly the happiest kid we know. She's so kind and thoughtful. She sees so much good in other people (regardless of how much good they are showing at the present moment). She's a dream-daughter. She's a super sister. She loves to play card games, ride bikes, hula hoop, burn CDs, sing, dance, make up plays, dress in costumes, eat chicken, draw, keep journals, drink ketchup, make fashion statements, and have friends over. She's got more creativity in her pinky than I have in my whole cuerpo.
As I think back to the day she was born, I'm feeling pretty emotional. Camry was due on May 1, but they think her duedate was miscalculated, so she came a few weeks early--and boy were we surprised. We'd been waiting to adopt for almost a year when Candace and Cory told us they'd picked us as Camry's family. They wrote us a letter March 31, we met them April 1, and she was born just shy of two weeks later.
Talk about EXCITING!
I think back to that Saturday morning when our caseworker phoned us and said, "what are you doing?" (We were honestly painting the border in her bedroom at that minute.) I think I said, "Just getting ready for the baby." To which he said, "Oh, you better hurry that up--she was born last night!"
I know babies are miracles--but I think our children are double miracles. First, because they came to the earth the way they did, and second, because they came to our family the way that they did. Adoption has defined Dave and I and our lives completely. Our children and their biological families have given us love and purpose beyond description/explanation.
I wish every person had the experience of receiving so much love, faith and trust from another human being. It's an overwhelming feeling--to know that another person feels connected to you, and trusts you to love and care for the most important and significant part of them (literally a part of them--their baby).
We love Candace and Cory so much. They are beautiful-incredible (a new word: beaucredible) people. They made a perfect Camster. And we are so grateful to celebrate Camry's 11th bday!
Happy almost-Bday, Camry!
