I had a chance to go up to twilight camp with the Cub Scouts in our church group yesterday. (Thanks kids and Dave for givin' me that time.)
While I was there in this BEAUTIFUL canyon, watching the Cubs row boats and splash water at each other, I was doing some major thinking (vs. the minor thinking I usually do).
The lake was beautiful (unless you really got close, then it was marshy!). The sun was out. The mountains were covered in trees. The kids were having fun.
And as I took pictures, I just kept thinking how grateful I should be for the opportunity to have and children in my life (as a mom and as a teacher).
Kids teach you so much (yes, I'm re-interpreting/plagiarizing the poster: Everything I Needed to Know in Life...")!
Here are some of the things I learned yesterday from being at camp:
--Half-day camp is awesome (especially the second-half of the day!).
--Laughing is SO MUCH FUN! Tickling friends is even funner (and yes, that's a word . . . when you're a kid!)
--Play every day.
--Don't be afraid to sweat. Use that body of yours!
--Making friends is easy.
--The last thing we should worry about is getting our clothes dirty.
--Teasing is fun, unless you are the one being teased.
--Be hopeful. Dream big. ("I'm going to be a rockstar." "I'm going to live in Africa.")
--Food is fuel. Why waste playtime eating?
--Everyone looks good in a bathing suit.
--What's motion sickness (winding roads didn't bother them at ALL).
--Trading Posts ROCK (rabbit pelts and snapping trick gum, oh yeah!)
I'm sure there are about 2,000 more things to add, but for now, a few photos (I've added Kaya's photos b/c I'm learning from my own kids, too!):
