First things first, Happy Birthday Chloee!

Could it be possible? A day with near 70 degree weather? Yup! Sunday was the best day ever! Okay, that's hyperbole. It was the best day in about 5 months! We were pretty fortunate, because we were banking on a warm day and we got it. (Love when that happens.)
With the pending warm weather, our street decided to hold the annual Navajo Taco Potluck on Sunday. It's kind of a tradition, if a new neighborhood can have a tradition? We block off the street, use every one of the Day's chairs and tables, and invite anyone who will come to our outdoor Sunday Potluck.
Sometimes these are themed dinners--potato bar, Italian, etc. But the most favorite one, hands-down, is Navajo Taco Potluck.
Until I moved to Utah, I'd never heard of such a thing. Navajo Taco? I'm pretty sure the origin is NOT Navajo. And I don't even know if you can call it a taco? But basically it's a scone (flattened, fried Rhodes roll) with taco toppings. It ends up looking more like a fry-bread-tostada, and wow are they tasty (Aunt Jamie, that's for you).
We had a lot of fun spending time with our friends/neighbors yesterday (though we are always SHORT on fry bread, if you can imagine? 325 of those dough-boys and we are still short.).
As cliche' as it sounds, Daybreak really is everything we'd hoped it would be: a beautiful area, a tight-knit neighborhood, lots of friends for our kids (heck, our pets have pet-friends!), and afternoons (into the evenings) on porches.
I'm not saying it's perfect. I miss my family in California, I miss the beach, winter was forever long this year, the Daybreak pool is going to be blocks and blocks away from our home . . . and there are a few neighbors that put the hood in neighborhood (you know who you are--JUST KIDDING!), but really, it's an awesome thing to be part of a community. We love it.
Thanks to our friends for doing so much work cooking and preparing for Sunday's dinner. We really appreciate it!
